Search Midland County Court Dockets

A Midland County court docket is the court's schedule or running index of case events. To search the Midland County court docket, first identify the court that heard the matter and the clerk that holds its file. County, district, justice, municipal, appellate, and federal cases use different official routes. A docket can show filings, settings, and status, while the full case record may require a clerk request. Public access is broad under Texas court rules, but sealed, juvenile, family, probate, and other sensitive material may be limited or redacted.

Midland Docket Portal Search Fields

Midland County routes record seekers through a single hub. The Midland County public-record notice points to a new county portal and states plainly that registration or account access is required. Civil, criminal misdemeanor, probate, and guardianship records all fall under County Clerk categories there. The JP route was folded in during the site upgrade too, and an access request may take up to 24 hours to clear.

Not every live field appears on the public pages. Work only with the options the portal actually presents.

That notice documents the registration route itself. A login wall sets an access condition, nothing more, and does not by itself make a court record private.

Midland County court docket public portal access notice

The Midland County public-record notice shows the registration route, not a promise of complete coverage. Treat the login wall as an access condition rather than proof that a court record is private.

Inside a Midland County Court Docket

A Midland County court docket can take several shapes: a case activity list, a daily calendar, a plea docket, a trial docket, a final pretrial list, or some other court schedule. Scope depends on the source. A posted PDF may show a setting yet omit the motion or signed order behind it. Those documents live in the clerk file.

Cause numberThe court-assigned identifier used to match the docket and file.
Court and judgeThe court number, assigned judge, or calendar division.
Case styleThe formal case title; public examples should omit private names.
FilingsPetitions, charges, answers, service, motions, orders, and other entries.
SettingsThe date, time, place, and hearing type when published.
DispositionA result or closing action where the public record displays it.

Never read a docket notation as final proof. A reset merely describes a scheduling change, and a plea docket is a schedule, not a judgment. When the exact outcome matters, get the filed order or a certified copy.

Midland County Docket Formats

Midland County does not push every setting through one uniform calendar. Each District Court posts on its own terms. The 385th District Court index lists civil and criminal docket links. The 238th District Court index carries daily, plea, and trial calendar routes. The 441th District Court works from weekly sheets plus email notice. The 142nd page spells out its own cadence.

The County Clerk portal is a different animal from those court-specific pages. So is the City citation search. A general county events calendar offers date, keyword, view, and subscription controls. It is not a complete court calendar. Identify the publication type before treating any date as a case setting in a Midland County court docket.

Note: Use the latest revised court posting. Confirm any changed setting with the court coordinator or clerk.

Courts That Keep Dockets in Midland County

Midland County stacks several record-keeping layers. Five District Courts, two County Courts at Law, a constitutional county/probate layer, four JP precinct courts, and the City of Midland Municipal Court. Each one has its own record keeper and search boundary. Appeals climb to the Eleventh Court of Appeals. Federal cases run through the Western District of Texas and PACER instead.

Never route by the word "Midland" alone. The issuing authority, court number, precinct, and case type determine which docket actually holds the case.

Midland Docket Clerk Counters

One shared courthouse address hides a vital split. Head to the fourth floor for the County Clerk. Its civil, misdemeanor, and probate routes cover County Court and County Courts at Law records. The District Clerk, in Suite 300, keeps district felony, civil, and family proceedings. Their own pages admit some overlap for County Court at Law civil records. Ask which office holds the specific file before you queue up.

The official County Clerk page describes these civil, misdemeanor, and probate record routes. It also covers the access conditions that come with them.

Midland County court docket County Clerk office information

That office page helps route county-level docket records, but district filings still belong to the District Clerk. Bring the cause number, court number, document name, and date range. It makes a copy request far easier.

How to Find Court Dates and Settings

Check a court date in the assigned court's current posting. Never infer it from a broad county calendar. Midland's district pages separate plea, arraignment, trial, status, final pretrial, and daily settings. Each label serves a different purpose. A calendar entry does not prove that a hearing occurred.

Open the court-specific docket index where one exists. Note the PDF title and its revision date. Then compare the cause number, court, and setting type against the clerk record or your notice. If the date moved, the signed order or current court confirmation controls. The full Midland County court-date reference walks through the local calendar channels.

Resets take more than a request. Midland's Attorney Information page requires opposing-party email agreement to be forwarded to the coordinator. A reset is not granted until the judge signs. A pending email is not permission to miss a setting.

When a Midland Docket Search Fails

A blank result is not proof that no case exists. The cause number may carry different punctuation. You may have picked the wrong court or precinct. The file may also sit in an older system. Portal migration and delayed indexing can muddy a docket search too. Sealed, juvenile, expunged, nondisclosed, or sensitive records may show a public user little or nothing at all.

  • Retry the exact cause number and verify the court selector.
  • Check the County Clerk, District Clerk, JP, and municipal split.
  • Ask whether the record is historical or not yet indexed.
  • Request a public or redacted copy when a document is unavailable.
  • Confirm an urgent setting directly with the court.

When the county portal comes up empty, look one level up. Appeals land in the Eleventh Court, so search that court along with the trial clerk. A federal matter takes you to PACER instead. Each system keys to its own case numbers. None of them run through the county docket portal.

Public Access to Court Dockets

Court rules and other governing law govern judicial records in Texas. A Midland County docket can be open. A filing inside that same case stays sealed or redacted. The clerk may want a written request. It should identify the court, cause number, date, and record. That should be enough detail to locate it.

Key access authorities:

Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 addresses access, exemptions, custodians, and written judicial-record requests.

Texas Government Code Chapter 552 directs judiciary information to court rules and other law.

Texas Family Code Chapter 58 restricts juvenile records and provides sealing rules.

Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A governs expunction, which differs from an ordinary docket search.

Rule 12.6 governs the timing here. A response is due as soon as practicable, and no later than 14 days, unless another provision controls. Keep in mind that a timely response is not a promise of release.

Midland Docket Privacy Boundaries

Public access has practical limits. Juvenile records carry special restrictions. Family files can hold child, custody, abuse, adoption, or home-address details. Probate, guardianship, and mental-health matters may include financial or medical facts. Judicial drafts, security plans, protected personnel information, and anything made confidential by other law can also be exempt from a docket search. So a public portal may list a case while withholding its document. When access is denied, ask for the legal basis. Ask whether a redacted public copy exists. Do not send extra Social Security, driver's license, birth-date, or address data in a broad request. The City also keeps Municipal Court judicial records separate. Those stay apart from its administrative Public Information Act request route.

Docket Records at the Clerk's Office

The clerk holds the filed record behind a Midland County court docket. Ask by name for a docket printout, petition, charge, answer, motion, service return, or order. Ask for a judgment or the complete file. Say whether the copy must be certified. Page, search, certification, service, and delivery charges may each be billed separately.

Midland Docket Copies and Certification

A portal view finds the case; the clerk issues the certified copy. The county fee page lists $1 per page for certain paper copies, plus $5 for clerk certification and $10 for an authentication certificate. Electronic noncertified copies run $0.10 per page where applicable, with a $1 document minimum.

It searches by case number, party, attorney, or judicial officer. Court/location and case-type filters are available. You will need an account. Document purchases or access limits may apply.

Midland Specialty Docket Limits

Specialty programs do not behave like ordinary public-name dockets. Midland County runs Adult Felony Drug Court, DWI Court, Transitional Treatment Court, and Mental Health Court. The City operates Teen Court for eligible youth referred by municipal or JP judges. A program can stay tied to an underlying case. Yet treatment, testing, youth, and health details should not be published. The Drug Court lists open hearing sessions but closed staffing. Teen Court rules allow a path that may end in dismissal after successful completion. Its referral list is no ordinary public docket. To verify public case status, use the underlying clerk record and the assigned court. Respect each program's privacy boundary along the way.

Midland County Court Dockets by City

Midland County has one incorporated city: Midland. Its Municipal Court is a court of record. It handles city-limit Class C misdemeanors, traffic, parking, and code matters. A county address alone does not make a citation a city case. What controls is the issuing authority and court printed on the citation, and that tells you whether the record sits with Municipal Court or a JP precinct.
